6th Grade at Western Sierra
We are pleased to announce that the Rocklin Academy Board of Directors voted to approve the addition of two sixth grade classes to be housed at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy. These self-contained classes will provide the same, rich, Core Knowledge curriculum offered in our existing sixth grade classes at Turnstone and Meyers. Turnstone and Meyers will still continue to have their sixth grade classes. We are excited about the possibilities this addition brings to our organization in terms of growth, in addition to providing another choice for families in the area interested in enrolling their sixth grader in our program. Thank You PSP for New Technology in the Classrooms!
A hearty thank you to the PSP for your support this year with technology integration in our classrooms! Because of your generous support, teachers have lots of new technology to use in their classrooms, including additional student computers, higher-powered computers to run Promethean boards, tools to supplement the Promethean boards, the Kidspiration program, and subscriptions to United Streaming. Thanks for partnering with us to provide technological tools to benefit our students!

Congratulations to all Rocklin Academy Destination Imagination teams for another fun and successful year! We are proud of our teams for their excellent work this year, and for representing our school so well. We also offer huge congratulations to the I.S.A.P. team which has been invited to represent the state of California at the Global Competition in Tennessee!

Dr. Patterson Wins Hart Vision Award!
Yesterday our own Dr. Patterson was honored at the California Charter School Conference and received the prestigious Hart Vision Award. The Hart Vision Awards were established in 1995 in honor of Gary K. Hart, retired California State Senator and former California Secretary of Education. The goal of the Hart Vision Awards is to recognize and honor annually individuals who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in education. Dr. Patterson’s acceptance speech included 15 Rocklin Academy students who helped recite one of his favorite quotes. The press release and video link is attached if you click on this story. Many Rocklin Academy and Western Sierra students are featured. We are proud of the work Dr. Patterson has done and so pleased that he has been acknowledged for his achievements.

Great News! Prop 39 In Lieu Agreement for WSCA
We are excited to announce Rocklin Academy has reached an agreement with Rocklin Unified School District regarding an in lieu of Proposition 39 agreement which provides $1.1 million in assistance with our facilities, cash flow assistance by allowing our costs our facility cost payments from sharing the Ruhkala and Rocklin Elementary School sites to occur after the end of each school year, and provisions for providing facilities and fields for sports and performing/fine arts activities.
The agreement is the culmination of three years of hard work between the Academy and the District. The agreement provides very important financial support for Western Sierra and for our extra-curricular activities. Finally, this agreement benefits and strengthens all of Rocklin Academy. We are pleased with this agreement as part of ongoing, positive work with Rocklin Unified School District. |
